Facilities
Access to quality tennis facilities is essential to growing tennis in Great Britain. Whether it’s a club, park court or community venue, we’re committed to delivering the right tennis facilities and the right operating models.
Find out more about the work we’re doing to improve tennis facilities and open tennis up to different communities across the nation.
Parks are the beating heart for sport across Britain and are key to the long-term health of tennis and making the game accessible to everyone.
There are currently 1.7 million adults and many more children who play tennis in a local park every year, and park tennis courts are particularly important in providing affordable, engaging and accessible opportunities for more female players and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
Since 2020, we have been working with the Government to invest £30 million into transforming local authority park tennis facilities across Britain. The investment will see thousands of public park tennis courts in poor or unplayable condition brought back to life for the benefit of their local community.
We’re here to support Local Authorities and Park Operators with a variety of tools and guidance to not only enhance facilities, but to better understand and benefit from the opportunities that parks tennis can offer.
Our Community Indoor Tennis Centre network consists of 52 indoor tennis centres with over 300 indoor and 250 outdoor courts.
They are true community tennis hubs, accessible for everyone and are a vital resource for tennis to help increase participation in the sport.
We work in partnership with the LTA Tennis Foundation to support the Community Indoor Tennis Centre network.
We are here to support your facility or venue bring tennis to your local community.
Whether it be our LTA venue support toolkit, our Parks support, our tools to help you grow and retain membership or our Facility Loan Scheme, we are on hand to help your facility thrive.
The LTA National Tennis Centre (NTC) opened in 2007. The centre has 20 tennis courts, three padel courts, accommodation and a world class sports science centre.
Along with its tennis courts, the NTC is equipped with a high performance gymnasium, ice baths for our elite players, as well as a self-service restaurant.
The National Tennis Centre provides the facility and training services for the British Men’s, Women’s & Wheelchair high performance tennis teams, coach education, competitions, as well as our own junior and adult community programme.
Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre is the largest public tennis centre in Great Britain, including 40 courts including 11 covered courts, 13 grass courts and 16 outdoor hard courts.
It's also one of the largest community indoor tennis centres in the country, providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in tennis throughout the year.
The facilities are open to all members of the public and the local community, including users from the University of Nottingham.
Since integrating padel into our operations in 2019, our focus to date has been on laying the foundations and infrastructure of padel as a sport in Britain through facility development, increasing the number of courts, developing a coaching workforce and working with other partners to maximise the potential of the game.
Courts are being developed in tennis clubs, schools, universities, parks, leisure centres and community indoor centres, with a growing number of commercial operators investing in padel and padel facilities.
We operate a quick access loan scheme and applications are welcomed for both outdoor and covered padel courts.
