It is good governance to review all policies over time to ensure that they remain relevant and appropriate.  In addition, the Sports Councils Equality Group have published guidance on this issue, effectively remitting the decision on trans participation in the women’s category to individual governing bodies.  Alongside this, there has been increased work done by other bodies, such as the International Olympic Committee, as well as increased public discussion  All these factors meant that it was the right time to review whether our previous policy was still fit for purpose.
