Esher Tennis & Padel facility investment
Tennis venues offer more than just a place to practice, they are a community, a place to catch up with friends, and get on court. The LTA’s Quick Access Loan scheme, funded by the LTA Tennis Foundation provides loans which help deliver projects that will grow the number of people playing tennis and padel, ensuring long term sustainability for the venue and its members.
The loan scheme supports the LTA’s and the LTA Tennis Foundation’s vision of ‘tennis opened up’ by ensuring every approved application includes a community element to their proposal, enabling more people to access tennis.
The Venue
Esher Tennis & Padel is a friendly community tennis and padel club offering courts and coaching for players of all ages and abilities.
The Project
- Converting 3 grass courts to 3 floodlit tennis courts
- Converting 1 macadam court and practice wall area to 2 floodlit Padel courts
The Impact
- This investment allowed the club to retain a high-class coaching team and connect with a number of schools in the local area
- The members feel the club has since been transformed resulting in a runner up award in the LTA Club of the Year competition
- The membership of the club increased to around 1,100 members
The addition of padel has been a huge success for the club and, combined with the three new hard courts, has contributed to an almost three-fold increase in the number of members. This in turn enabled us to further invest in the club including a complete refurbishment of the clubhouse. Having more court space has meant that we are able to run holiday camps every week of the school holidays and offer free taster sessions to local schools, as well as running more competitions and events for members.
