Tennis Coach – Livewire Warrington (Indoor and Outdoor facilities)


We have a fantastic opportunity for a full-time tennis coach to join our team with approximately 25 hours of group coaching running for 39 weeks of the year as well as the opportunity to run tennis camps during school holidays. The 25 hours are split across 2 sites, Birchwood Tennis Centre (Indoor) and Great Sankey Hub (Outdoor floodlight). Working days would be Tuesday – Saturday with Sunday and Monday off. The hours are split to ensure daily indoor work at Birchwood with 2 days per week where you will also coach on our programme outdoors at Great Sankey ensuring financial sustainability for the successful coach. In addition, there are 10 peak time court hours available to deliver individual lessons indoors at Birchwood with further daytime flexibility prior to 3pm for adult or daytime junior lessons.
Squad work will be paid at a set hourly rate dependant on coaching qualification. Individual / 1-2-1 rate can be dictated by the self-employed coach with a court fee paid directly to the centre. This role will be managed by the Tennis Development Manager and supported by the Head of Performance Tennis, as well as the wider coaching team.
Livewire Warrington operates all Warrington Borough Council leisure facilities. In October 2023 Birchwood Community Hub completed a multi-million-pound refurbishment project creating brand new changing facilities, an upgraded state of the art fitness suite, 2 new multi-use studios and the full refurbishment of the 4 indoor acrylic court tennis hall. In addition to these fantastic facilities there are also 4 outdoor macadam courts with potential for future upgrades.
Great Sankey Hub was completely renovated in 2018 and is a state of the art dementia friendly facility with 4 floodlight outdoor macadam courts that have funding secured to be repainted this summer. In addition, Great Sankey features 2 swimming pools, 3 fitness studios, an extensive fitness suite, a 6 badminton court sports hall and a full size 3G football pitch.
There are over 350 attendances per week by players of all ages and abilities across our programmes, including over 40 performance players aged 6U -18U. We are one of 62 LTA-recognised 10U Performance Programmes across the UK which provides high quality training environments to nurture the development of young players. This status acknowledges our hard work, dedication, and track record in developing some of the best players in the country at 10U. We also have access to a high level of support, facilitated by one of the LTA’s 10U National Pathway Coaches.

The current programme is delivered by a team of 3 full-time coaches. We have a close-knit team here at Livewire and offer great opportunities for personal development through attending regular weekly coach’s meetings where we share knowledge and ideas to continually aid coach development and enhance our programme offer.
This is a self-employed position, and applicants will need a minimum of an LTA Level 3 coaching qualification. All applicants will:
-Have a knowledge and understanding of technical foundations
-Aim to set high standards for both them and those around them
-Hold excellent communication & interpersonal skills
-Have experience in parent and player relationships
-Have a passion to work in tennis and developing young players
-Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
