Level 3 Coach Hill Lane Tennis Club, Plymouth
We would like a Level 3 coach to join our club and head up our coaching programme from 1st January 2025. This could be either delivered by the coach’s own team delivering weekly junior and adult sessions with appropriate coaching levels, or possibly using L2 Instructor or L1 Assistant helpers that we currently have at the club. From time to time we may also have enthusiastic teenagers to assist depending on their availability.
Historically we have had a number of regular (fixed) weekly coaching sessions for adults and juniors and we would like these to continue if possible, the self employed coach receives payment by invoicing the club for sessions completed.
We would also like to develop coaching sessions for interested members where the members or parents pay the coach directly for sessions or courses, they may include:
Cardio tennis
Team/squad tactics and drills training
Tennis ‘camps’ during juniors’ school holidays
Topic specific small group coaching
Private one to one coaching
(The coach would pay a small fee to the club for court rental)
The club has two sites within 200 yards of each other:
The Hill Lane Junior site was established 75 years ago. It has four all weather courts, two of them with floodlights. Two of the courts have just been resurfaced as part of our ongoing capital expenditure programme. There are Orange Ball markings on all four courts. We also have a set of four Mini courts with fixed nets, also resurfaced, we are the only local club with these facilities.
The junior site can accommodate the full range of junior age groups from under 10s upwards, including Red, Orange, Green and Yellow sessions.
The Lockington Avenue site for adult play has been around for almost 100 years. It has three good quality floodlit all weather courts. Rebonding and repainting will occur in Spring 2025. Adult membership includes the whole range of ages from 18 years old.
Both sites have kitchen, toilet and changing facilities and there is a secure, exclusive use office space for the use of the club coach.
The club has 3 junior teams in the Plymouth and District Summer League and 2 Ladies and 2 Men’s teams in the same league.
We lease our courts out to three primary schools and we are in negotiations with Plymouth University to do the same for their B team.
We are the biggest independent club in Plymouth, we have over 180 members with a 50/50 split between adults and under 18s. We have a friendly bunch of enthusiastic tennis players of all ages
The club has introduced a successful programme to accelerate the junior transition to senior play with a few juniors over the age of 14 playing in the adult P&D squads and they are also attending adult club play and team practice.
The club is registered with the LTA as a CASC and has a committee of 10 members including a Safeguarding Officer. The coach would be able to attend committee meetings when required.
We use the LTA Clubspark system for members to book courts and coaching
sessions. More information about the club can be found on the Hill Lane Tennis Club Clubspark website.
We believe there is excellent potential for a coach to build on the existing coaching activities, providing interest for members and also for the coach to build his/her own business with an enhanced coaching programme.
Person will ideally be a qualified and experienced LTA accredited Coach at level 3, but we will consider applications from experienced Level 2 Instructors who may be moving to Level 3 in the near future.
An enthusiastic, trustworthy, reliable and highly motivated individual who is committed to contributing to the success of the club both on and off the court

Passion for tennis and a commitment to player development, particularly with group sessions.
A track record of delivering a high quality tennis programme to juniors of various age groups and adults
