Head of Under 10’s Tennis


Lead and develop a new Under 10’s Performance Programme,
involving regular coaching of Red, Orange, and Green Squads,
individual coaching, and competition support.
This role is fixed term until July 2026, with potential to expand beyond this date, depending on funding.
Hours
Term Time Contract (39 weeks per year)
15 hours per week
Additional role of Under 10 Performance 1:1 Coach on a casual basis (to pick up shifts as and when required, in addition to the 15 hour per week contract)
Pay
Starting at £42,422 per annum (pro rata) / £21.99 per hour
£24.80 per hour for 1:1 coaching
You will be responsible for developing and delivering a new Under 10's Performance Programme, which will include developing and coaching both group and individual sessions at Newport Tennis Centre and Tredegar Park.
Main responsibilities will include:
Ensuring there is a growing player base within the Development Programme
Work with the coaching team to ensure delivery consists of LTA Youth Development Principles
Collaborate with the U10 Lead at Tennis Wales to ensure standards are linked to the LTA Player Pathway
Administration of the Programme, including Talent ID, competition performance and an U10 player database
Commitment to Continual Professional Development related to the U10 Programme through the Tennis Wales Coach Development Centres
Advising on tactical and technical improvements for our wider tennis programmes
You need to work with a customer-focused approach and be self-motivated with patience and understanding. Efficient time management and prioritisation skills are a must, with a true passion for tennis and helping the children on the Programme reach their full potential.

Key Experiences and Qualifications
Essential
Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Level 4 Senior Coach qualification (minimum)
We will consider applications from those with a Level 3 qualification who are currently working towards their Level 4)
Current LTA accreditation
Knowledge of LTA Youth Development Pathway and competition environments
Current Emergency First Aid certificate
Current Safeguarding certificate
Experience of working with U10 players and communicating with adults in a busy customer service environment
Experience of developing players to an LTA Regional Camp standard
Experience of event and competition organisation
Experience of managing a team of assistants to coordinate appropriate delivery within sessions
Experience of managing Talent ID process to recruit suitable players to a Development / Performance Programme
Beneficial
Ability to communicate in Welsh (or any other languages in addition to English)
Experience of delivering at an LTA Regional Camp
LTA Youth Compete training qualification
U10 Development training Tennis Wales / LTA CPD
Other UKCC sports qualifications
