Head Coach at Seaford and Blatchington Tennis Club East Sussex
The successful candidate will:
•Be accredited by the LTA, including up to date safeguarding, first aid, DBS/PVG enhanced check and online declaration.
•Be required to be on site most days every week, providing an enjoyable environment for all juniors and adults including social players
•Have a proven track record coaching county and national level juniors
•Be pro-active in driving up junior and adult membership.
•Be required to coach juniors and adults with individual and group sessions, including beginners, intermediate, advanced and competitive team players.
•Be responsible for the running of a weekly junior night.
•Work with the committee to provide marketing and newsfeed on social media platforms.
•Be required to attend committee meetings and the AGM providing a comprehensive/ detailed reports to the committee with details of coaching sessions including names of those coached, split between members and non-members, as a minimum.
•Be required to run half-term and school holiday junior camps, as well as social adult tournaments and junior events throughout the year
•Be required to sign a Consultancy Agreement for Coaching Services
•Be required to provide coaching equipment. Secure storage will be provided accordingly
•Work closely with the committee and to have an open friendly attitude to all members of the club
•Be prepared to embrace continued learning and self-development
•Play an important role in recruiting new members from the coaching programme, generating additional income for the club
•Have regular contact with members and players and play a pivotal role in delivering customer service and establishing the club culture
•Introduce new players to tennis - Helping new players settle into the club and grow in confidence - Helping to improve the player and retain their enjoyment and satisfaction levels at the club
•Create a vibrant social atmosphere at the club that is relevant for the different audiences
•Involve parents in Mini Tennis sessions to learn new skills and play tennis with their children.
•Be required to coach Team players to improve performance and increase success in the relevant LTA Leagues.
Additionally, the Head coach may appoint a suitably qualified assistant coach to meet the club’s coaching requirements, subject to approval in writing by the committee.
The coaching court allocation and times will be subject to a schedule to be agreed between the club and the coach.
Seaford and Blatchington Tennis Club is a friendly 100 year old club with 7 floodlit courts located in the bustling town of Seaford near the south coast and the beautiful South Downs National Park.
We encourage junior players and hold junior camps throughout the year
We have a modern licensed clubhouse with a large lounge for socialising and holding junior and adult events.
Competitive tennis is played currently by 4 men’s teams and 3 ladies’ teams taking part in the Tennis Sussex inter-club leagues, with our first team competing in the National League
1.Qualifications and Training:
LTA Senior Coach (Level 3) or higher
Up to date training in child protection and safeguarding best practice, enhanced DBS/ PVG Check and/or Children's Barred List check
2.Previous Essential Experience
Must be professional, reliable, highly motivated, with good communication skills.
Manage a reporting system to feedback to players, parents and committee.
The head coach must be familiar with software packages (including ClubSpark)
Must be able to provide concise and accurate reports on all aspects of coaching provided at the club to the committee
Proven experience and success in developing junior and adult players at relevant stages and ages
Nurturing the development of high potential juniors and adult players enabling them to thrive in tennis.
Working effectively and collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
Using Effective communication skills to build and manage relationships of trust and influence with players, members, committee and families.
Must have public liability insurance
Ability to manage a coaching team to achieve the club’s goals and targets
