Head Coach - Sale Tennis Club
Sale Tennis Club (STC) has recently undertaken a review of the aims and objectives of its coaching programme and, as a result, is embarking on a tender process to appoint a tennis coach that can provide a comprehensive programme that meets the current and future ambitions of STC and sets it up for continued future success at all levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To deliver a comprehensive and integrated coaching programme that caters for the requirements of members across all levels of STC.
A successful tennis programme at STC is defined as, but not limited to, the following criteria:
At Junior Level
-The development and maintenance of a thriving junior tennis environment that includes a coaching programme for all levels of junior tennis.
-Facilitating opportunities for competitive junior tennis, including regular competition and team tennis.
-Working with STC to create a clear and obvious pathway for juniors to excel at the club and transition into retained adult members.
-Working with adult members to ensure teams give an opportunity (where appropriate) for junior members to gain senior match play experience. Regular communication with team captains is required to achieve this.
At Adult Level
-Delivering a multi layered coaching approach that appeals to adult members at all levels. This can include, but shouldn’t be limited to:
oOrganised group sessions for beginner and intermediate level members
oSpecific organized group sessions for advanced members that focus on skill development and/or match play. This could include the coach joining a regular ladies/men’s practice session and either coaching from the sidelines or mixing in
oSpecific pre-season coaching for teams (for both winter and summer leagues)
oTaking on an independent and advisory role in team/squad selection, supporting captains where necessary. This can either be advising on existing membership or highlighting potential new/junior members going through the coaching programme
oWorking with the club to help achieve team goals
At Social Level
-Being the lynchpin between the coaching programme and the club.
-Helping to onboard players into the club setting via club socials and/or ladies/men’s team practices. The club would provide necessary support to do this within each setting.
-Attending scheduled tennis socials to provide continuity and structure over the course of the season. Additionally being present as part of new member onboarding at social tennis.
On A Personal Level
-The coach (and their team) should be the face of the club to members and non-members alike
-Providing a successful coaching programme is key, but so is contributing to the social environment at the club
-The coach will need to maintain a constructive and progressive relationship with the tennis committee on an ongoing basis
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
-All coaching must align with LTA coaching standards, policies and procedures
-All coaching must align to STC principles and be delivered to a high standard
-STC will work with the coach to set defined goals to ensure success can be measured. Goals may include, but won’t be limited to:
oEnrolling an agreed number of juniors and adults into the coaching programme on an annual basis
oEstablishing a talent pipeline that targets a certain number of juniors competing in adult teams each season
oConverting a minimum number of individuals from the coaching programme into paid members
oWorking towards targeted league positions for junior and adult teams over a medium – long term period
oAchieving high levels of customer/member satisfaction via feedback surveys
