Purpose of Role
The coach element will be to be on court with groups of children and adults along with individual lessons. The number of hours will be determined by the growth of the programme and the hours the successful applicant would like to work.
Role and Responsibilities:
As a Tennis Coach with Purley Sports Community Project, you will be responsible for:
•Delivering high-quality tennis coaching sessions across multiple venues in the Croydon borough.
•Managing the scheduling and execution of coaching programs for all age groups and skill levels.
•Engaging with the local community to promote tennis participation and program enrollment.
•Collaborating with partner organizations (LTA and GLL/Better) to ensure program success and adherence to standards.
•Providing feedback and development plans for participants to enhance their tennis skills and enjoyment of the sport.
Qualifications:
•LTA coaching qualification (Level 2 or above).
•Proven experience in delivering tennis coaching programs.
•Strong communication and organizational skills.
•Ability to work flexibly across various locations within the Croydon borough.
•Passion for community engagement and promoting sports participation.
Candidate Profile

The role requires a dynamic and resourceful person who thrives in a pressurised, results-oriented environment. He/she will show excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and interact effectively with staff, members, and external contacts. He/she will be self-motivated and demonstrate a passion for the job.

We are looking for an experienced coach who is comfortable with the interaction of administration and coaching and can work in a team.

The Purley Sports Club is one of the largest members clubs in Surrey. Its facilities include 18 tennis courts, 5 squash courts, a cricket pitch, a grass hockey pitch, a 6-link bowls green, Dance studio and a 2 floor gym and functional fitness room. Netball is also played on a tarmac tennis court. It has a clubhouse with a bar, excellent kitchen facilities and a big social area. There is a large function room with its own bar. Outside there is a large patio area overlooking the grass tennis courts and cricket pitch.

The club has a main reception with additional office space upstairs

The Club is situated a mile away from Purley Railway station.

There are over 2500 adult and junior members including over 300 social members.

The club, since Covid restrictions have been lifted, has been going through a complete restructure and has re-evaluated its polices and procedures to ensure it is fit for the future.

It is now making sufficient surpluses so that it is able to reinvest in the facilities and grow its membership. It aims to be one of the leading clubs in the Southeast.

The club’s current main streams of revenue are subscription income and bar and catering surpluses. It aims to increase this to three main streams by introducing club run coaching/holiday programmes.

The Club employs a full time Manager and 3 part time administrative staff and a part time bar manager along with a number of bar staff. A Management committee sets policy and the strategic priorities for the Club in conjunction with the Manager.

We have partnered with the LTA and GLL/Better, the council operator of the tennis courts in question. Purley Sports Club is now responsible for managing and delivering the tennis coaching program at all 15 park tennis court sites across the Croydon borough. This initiative will operate under our new sub-brand, the Purley Sports Community Project.
