The primary focus of the role is to deliver and lead at Barnsley Lawn Tennis Club. We are looking for a motivated coach to develop players. We are looking to offer players more opportunity to reach their goals within the game.

The coach will have between 4-6 hours group coaching and 6-10 hours of private lessons. The successful candidate will have the chance to work within any or all our programme sectors; junior, adult, team coaching and community (which includes engaging with schools, disability tennis sessions as well as socio-economically deprived groups). If the coach would like more hours, Head Coach, Alice Robson has good relationships with local Head Coaches who will be able to offer hours to make the job full time.

Coaches are self-employed but will receive support and mentoring from Head Coach, Alice. The tennis club and coaching programme will also support financially with helping coach to develop to their next qualification.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with National Development Coach of the Year 2020, Alice Robson.

Alice Robson (AR Tennis Ltd.) is Head Coach of Ackworth Tennis Club, Barnsley Lawn Tennis Club as well as Slazenger Tennis Club where she has massively developed the coaching programmes and clubs as a whole.

Barnsley Lawn Tennis Club is a 7-court club, with over 300 members including a large proportion of juniors. It has many active teams within the Sheffield and District leagues as well as the Yorkshire League.

Coaching at Barnsley runs on 4 days. There is coaching sessions for all ages and abilities ranging LTA Youth Start and Adult beginner classes to Adult Team training as well as Junior invitational sessions. There is a high demand for private lessons and with a large catchment area, there are a lot more opportunities to be explored. One of the main focuses at the club is to get more juniors competing and work more individually with coaches to take their tennis to the next level. We run monthly Matchplays and have recently started running grade 5 competitions.

Tennis development is in the foundation of the programme. Alice is looking for a coach that shares her passion.
