The Referee Course is aimed at people with experience of organising competitions who would like to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become a Tennis Referee.
Both days of the course are 9am - 5.30pm
PRE-REQUISITES
Attendees must be aged 16 or over and must be UK residents.
Attendees must have attended a Competition Organiser course or completed a Court Supervisor course or have previous experience of organising and running competitions. Those with previous experience can email officiatingsupport@lta.org.uk to confirm if they can bypass the Competition Organiser course.
CONTENT
Topics covered in the course will include:
- Fair Play
- Rules of Tennis
- Code of Conduct
- Refereeing duties
- Role of the Court Supervisor
- Handling Situations, such as on-court disputes
- Tournament Organisation
- Using TTP (Tennis Tournament Planner) software
- Tournament Experience
ASSESSMENT
The course is pass/fail with the criteria for passing being:
- Assessment by the Tutor during the course
- Passing an exam on day two
- Holding an LTA Officials Licence
Passing the course will allow Referees to be eligible to referee at county level tournaments and court supervise at higher level tournaments.
