Explore proven learning strategies that enhance players’ comprehension, application, and retention of new skills.
We all want to see improvement in whatever we do, and tennis is no exception – it’s one of the top three reasons that players return again and again to coaching sessions. Improve players faster with 4 learning strategies has been developed by Lorna Woodroffe, former British no.1 and Level 4 coach, and Chris Peet, Level 5 coach who worked with three junior national champions.
On completion of the course, you will:
- Understand how to use errorless learning, scaffolding, external focus, and constraints-based coaching, in coaching to give players what they need.
- See how academic research and educational psychology translates to practical, on-court exercises that yield rapid improvement in players.
- Take away a bank of creative drills to apply in your sessions, as well gaining the knowledge to create your own exercises and drills.
“Knowing your players and being able to vary learning strategies gives you more tools to use to work with the pupil in a positive way.”

Tennis Wales are the National Governing Body for tennis in Wales. We’re a not for profit organisation affiliated with the LTA and work in partnership towards a vision of ‘tennis opened up’ in Wales. In partnership with our sponsors and Sport Wales, we work collaboratively to make tennis relevant, accessible, welcoming and enjoyable.
We have created new partnerships with Cardiff Met University and Wrexham Tennis Centre which will see this new Coach Development Centre, created specifically for Wales, training and supporting hundreds of new and existing tennis coaches. The new landscape will allow for dedicated support to service the needs of the local workforce and enable closer links to deployment opportunities across the country.
Our aim is to provide a clear and transformative pathway for coaches to develop and achieve their potential.
