Join us in conversation with Robert Wedlake, LTA Level 4 Coach and LTA Coach Mentor, and Lydia Edgar, Employment Partner at Brabners, as we discuss the various aspects of the coach-venue relationship.
It is very likely that you either currently are, or at some point have been, working as part of a coaching programme at a venue or as a self-employed coach using facilities of an established venue. Regardless, most conversations around your business will be with venue and its committee. If not navigated appropriately, these can seriously impact the success of your business, and the success of the venue itself. In recent research, it is estimated that 20% of coaches in the UK experience significant or consistent coach-venue relationship challenges (Mills, In Press).
Lydia Edgar, employment lawyer with over 30 years of experience and currently Head of the Sports sector team at Brabners, will guide you through the essentials to ensure your relationship with venues and committees remains beneficial for both parties. Her expertise in managing disputes and resolving conflicts between coaches and key stakeholders puts Lydia in the right place to advise on what good governance can do for your coaching business.
Robert Wedlake, with over 20 years of coaching experience, has progressed from volunteering to becoming Level 4 and Head Coach at several clubs and programmes. Robert has successfully gained support from venues and committees for his ideas, benefiting both parties. This success has allowed him help coaching programmes across Wales grow, not only through venues but also through parks and schools. Currently, he oversees a multi-venue coaching business and works with coaches, assistants, governing bodies and local authorities to provide tennis and padel opportunities at all ages and stages. He also sits on several committees at partner venues, offering guidance where appropriate.
If you'd like to get top tips on effectively engaging with venues and committees from these two experts, this webinar is a great opportunity for you to join, learn and even ask questions.
