During this workshop we address the implications for working with these impairment groups individually, in an integrated way, and/or offering impairment specific sessions, and how to deliver sessions accordingly. Practical elements include: group scenarios for providing practical solutions for disability-inclusion in tennis, participation in ‘disability simulation’ to allow coaches to experience the challenges faced by disabled people, followed by an opportunity to coach individuals with various impairments from the local community.
The Disability Awareness Course is designed to help coaches:
• Understand how disabled people can be integrated into non-disabled tennis sessions
• Increase their knowledge of impairment specific groups and the practical implications for coaches
• Raise their awareness of impairment specific performance pathways
• Develop their awareness of existing structures and opportunities for disabled people
This course is designed to provide coaches with a basic level of knowledge and confidence to deliver traditional and modified versions of tennis to disabled participants with a wide range of impairments.
The course will cover an overview of all impairment groups that have performance pathways, as well as looking at practical implications for coaches to assist them in developing either an integrated programme or to introduce impairment specific programmes, when appropriate.

Virtus Leisure Management is an approved LTA Coach Development Centre.
Our organisation offers LTA qualifications at Assistant, Instructor and Level 3. We also offer CPD courses for coaches from the LTA Official Course Menu as well as our own Virtus CPD courses. These range from off court topics such as managing a team of coaches, to on court workshops on a variety of subjects.
At Virtus we aim to share the excitement of tennis through innovation and excellence. We are proud of our partnership with the LTA to deliver high quality qualifications and CPD. As a result, our team of tutors strive to develop themselves to continue to raise the standard of our courses and we challenge ourselves to provide better communication for our learners on courses. At Virtus we look to build on relationships started on courses to become a central point for questions or help a coach may need.
