Izzey's Story was launched in February 2023. It was developed by the Centre for Child Protection at the University of Kent in partnership with the LTA, volunteers, coaches and young people.
This course is aimed at Welfare Officers and it is necessary to have previously completed safeguarding training (within the last three years) to complete Izzey's Story. Completing this course will add an additional 1 year onto your current safeguarding training (Welfare Officers only).
You are encouraged to complete this course in one sitting, which should take between 60-90 minutes. If you are unable to complete in one sitting, your location in the course will be remembered as long as you do not use a different browser or device when resuming progress.
The learning objectives for this course are:
- Increase your awareness of the grooming process
- Identify indicators of grooming and sexual abuse
- Identify poor practice and abusive behaviours
- Understand the impact of sexual abuse on children
- Consider and reflect on safeguarding practices within your own venue
The LTA is the national governing body for tennis in Great Britain, and its mission is to get more people play tennis more often. The LTA focuses on a number of key areas of work which include coach development, competition and major events, high performance support, officiating and participation support among others.
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) provides online educational courses for coaches, officials and other tennis stakeholders. Content is developed, delivered and authored by the LTA.
