Matt originally trained at Woking LTCC as a junior before specializing in Tennis at Exeter University, whilst also captaining the Club and competing in the BUCS Premier league. He then trained as a coach at Woking in 2004 before developing very successful programmes of his own at Shalford LTC and Surrey Sports Park, as well as taking a year out to coach in Australia. As a well renowned performance coach he also manages the Surrey U12 Boys team, winning the national title in 2015 and 2016.

Coach Accreditation is the LTA’s professional membership scheme for coaches. Being accredited ensures that a coach is qualified, insured and meets safe-to-practice standards, such as first aid and safeguarding training. An Accredited+ coach also commits to a minimum of 15 hours of professional development training each year.
Qualifications range from 1 to 5 and indicate the level of formally-assessed training a coach has completed. Coaches begin the LTA Qualification pathway at LTA Assistant (Level 1) and are able to train up to Master Coach (Level 5), the highest available LTA qualification. When choosing a coach we recommend taking into account qualifications, experience and ongoing CPD training, which can be seen in their 'Recently completed training courses' tab.
