US Open 2021: Salisbury takes the Doubles Double to lift the Mixed Doubles Trophy with Desirae Krawczyk

• 1 MINUTE READ

Joe Salisbury has done for Britain what’s even beyond Emma Raducanu - winning two titles at the 2021 US Open.

The number two seeds, Desirae Krawczyk and Joe Salisbury, have won their first US Open mixed doubles title, beating beat their unseeded opponents, El Salvador’s Marcelo Arevalo and Mexican Giuliana Olmos 7-5 6-2, in the mixed doubles final at Flushing Meadows.

Joe becomes the first man to do the US Open doubles double in the same year since Bob Bryan in 2010, with partner Desirae Krawczyk wining her third Grand Slam mixed doubles title in a row - the previous being with Salisbury at Roland Garros this year, and Neal Skupski at Wimbledon just earlier this summer.

The trophy takes 29 year old Salisbury to a total of four Grand Slam titles under his belt within the last two years:

“To come away with two titles, I couldn’t have even dreamt of that - to be playing on this incredible court and to top off finishing winning the title (with Des) it’s amazing, we have had so much fun on the court together…

“I have got to say a big thank you to everyone in the box… It has been such a great atmosphere with the whole team, and we have had so much fun… I can’t wait to get back on court and to be back (here) next year.”
