Statement from LTA CEO Scott Lloyd following the cancellation of the Surbiton Trophy
"Although regrettable, we fully understand and support the decision taken today by the ATP, WTA and ITF to postpone all professional tennis events until Monday 8 June, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This period includes the Surbiton Trophy and therefore, sadly, this year’s event at the Surbiton Racket and Fitness Club, which was due to be held from 31 May until 7 June 2020, has been cancelled. At this time we are in close consultation with the Government and continuing to work with the All England Club and the international tennis governing bodies regarding planning for the remainder of the grass court season and expect to have a further update in the coming weeks.
The safety and security of all those attending, working at or playing in our events is our absolute priority and will remain so, as we consider the best way forward. All ticket-holders for the Surbiton Trophy will be contacted."
