Sam Groth won the all Australian duel with Luke Saville to be crowned the Aegon Open Manchester champion.
The No.2 seed was a break down in the first set and trailed 5-4 with Saville serving, but broke back twice to win the next three games and the set 7-5.
Groth, who has the world record for the fastest serve at 163mph, was on a roll and stormed into an early lead in the second playing some great serve-volley tennis.
In the sunshine at the Northern Lawn Tennis Club, the world No.72 secured his second Challenger title of 2015 with an unreturnable serve to win 7-5, 6-1 in one hour and two minutes.
Groth said: "It's pretty amazing to have my name alongside names like Sampras and McEnroe on the trophy, Any time you win a tournament it's a great feeling and it's a great way for me to start my grasscourt campaign."
