Day five: Salisbury and Ram exit in round of 16
Four-time Grand Slam winning duo Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram's journey in Monte Carlo came to an end in the second round, after they lost to Marcelo Melo and Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-5.
The fourth seeds received a bye to the second round and began their campaign on Thursday against Melo and Zverev who were forced to finish their first round match earlier on in the day, after a rain delay caused yesterday's action to be suspended.
The Brazilian, German duo picked up where they left off in their battle against Salisbury and Ram - breaking the 2022 champions four times to seal a convincing win.
There are now no Brits left in the singles or doubles draw in Monte Carlo.
Tuesday saw more British tennis players in action in Monte Carlo, but it wasn't meant to be for British No.2 Jack Draper who narrowly lost out to Hubert Hurkacz in a gripping three set clash, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(2).
After losing a tight opening set, Draper managed to shift the momentum in his favour as he clawed back to level the scoreboard. In the decider, the Polish 10th seed - who was still firing from lifting his first clay court title at the Estoril Open title on Sunday - stepped up to serve for the match but a late surge from the Brit ultimately pushed the first round battle to a tie-break.
The world No.8 soon refocused and proved the stronger player in the tie-break as he wrapped up victory after a gruelling battle.
In the doubles draw, Neal Skupski and Mexican partner Santiago Gonzalez suffered a 6-3, 7-6(7) defeat to French duo Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Nicolas Mahut.
Joe Salisbury is now the last Brit remaining in Monte Carlo, and will begin in campaign alongside Rajeev Ram in the round of 16.
Day one: Norrie & Evans defeated in opening round
It was a tough start to the clay court season for the British hopefuls at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters as Cam Norrie and Dan Evans both exited in the first round.
Norrie lost a tough opening round clash against 15th seed Karen Khachanov 7-5, 7-6(3) in two hours and 25 minutes.
The British No.1 led by a break in both sets and had two set points in the second, but the world No.17 found a way to fight back. Khachanov got off to the perfect start in the second set tie-break, reeling off six of the first seven points, before closing out a hard-fought victory over the British star.
Evans began his campaign against world No.44 Sebastian Ofner, with the British No.3 losing out 6-1, 6-4.
The Austrian wasted no time asserting his dominance in the opening round battle, as sprinted ahead to a double break to take a one set lead. Picking up where he left off, Ofner found his third and final break of the match on Evans' opening service game in the second set, as he eased to victory in an hour and 10 minutes.
Jamie Murray and Michael Venus have bowed out in the men's doubles draw after losing out to Jackson Withrow and Nathaniel Lammons 6-4, 6-4.
Meanwhile, Lloyd Glasspool and Jean-Julien Rojer also lost their opener against Holger Rune and Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-3.
