Nike Junior International: Americans dominate in Bolton
• 1 MINUTE READ
A very strong American team dominated the Nike Junior International Bolton, taking home three of the four titles on offer.
The 2017 event saw Cori Gauff and Toby Kodat add their names to an illustrious roll of honour which includes Andy Murray and Justine Henin as previous winners.
Top seed Gauff beat compatriot Alexandra Yepifanova, with Kodat beating Martin Damm, whose dad of the same name reached number five in the world at doubles, and the top 50 in singles.
Both singles finals followed a very similar pattern, with a tight first set, and more straight forward second. Gauff took the title with a 7-5, 6-2 victory, and Kodat with a 7-5, 6-0 victory.
On the British front, Joel Pierleoni and Jack Pinnington Jones produced some great performances to win the boys' doubles title, beating Damm & Mayot 6-3, 7-5 to prevent an American clean sweep, whilst Kylie Bilchev made the semi-final of the singles before being beaten by Yepifanova 6-2, 7-6(7).
There were also strong singles performances from William Nolan, Jack Pinnington Jones, and Amelia Bissett who all reached the quarter finals, whilst Jessica Dawson & Javanne Palma made it through the girls' doubles semi-final.
