Singles

British No.1 Katie Boulter will be Canada bound once again as she looks to surpass her tournament best of second round at this year’s event. Last year saw Boulter battle through two rounds of qualifying before being defeated by sixth seed Coco Gauff in the second round.

The world No.34 has clocked some brilliant results on the hard courts so far this year, including lifting the biggest title of her career at the San Diego Open back in February and reaching the round of 16 at the Miami Open, and will be looking to make a strong statement in Canada next week.

Harriet Dart will also feature in the women's singles after coming through qualifying as a lucky loser. Dart recently made the third round of Wimbledon.

She’ll be joined by Britain's highest ranked men’s player Jack Draper, who is currently resting at a career-high ranking of world No.27. The 22-year-old enjoyed a summer to remember on the grass, after picking up his first ATP tour level title at the Boss Open before earning the biggest win of his career by ranking at the cinch Championships when he defeated reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz.

The Brit last competed at the event back in 2022 where he enjoyed a breakthrough week, defeating then world No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to the quarter-final before being beaten by eventual champion Pablo Carreno Busta. With Draper playing some of the best tennis of his career so far, could this be a prime opportunity for the rising star to earn a maiden Masters 1000 crown?

He’ll also be joined by British No.2 Cam Norrie who will be looking to bounce back from injury after the 28-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Paris Olympics ahead of his first-round match.

Doubles

There’s also plenty of British interest in the doubles draw, with three British men headline the entry list so far.

Recently crowned Wimbledon men’s doubles champion Henry Patten will enter in peak confidence off the back of his fairytale run to a first Grand Slam title with Finland’s Harri Heliovaara. The pair embarked on a surprise run to glory in SW19, capping off with a sensational comeback win over Australian pair Jordan Thompson and Max Purcell 6-7(7), 7-6(8), 7-6(9). The British, Finnish duo have already won three tour-level titles this year and will be looking to add the silverware in Canada to their fast-growing list of accolades.

Joining them will past champions Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski who will team up with Rajeev Ram and Michael Venus, respectively, while Jamie Murray plays with Grigor Dimitrov.

Three-time US Open champions Salisbury and Ram claimed the crown back in 2021 after they edged Croatian duo Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic in a tight three-set epic. The pair came within touching distance of earning a second title in Canada last year before they were pipped to the finish line by Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Rojer.

The US hard court swing has proven to be a happy hunting ground for the British, American pair over the years, and they will look to make a golden start in August as they hunt down a second title of the season.

Meanwhile, 2022 champion Neal Skupski will be looking to continue his successful partnership with Michael Venus as they head to the United States. The pair joined forced for the grass court swing where they went on a 12 match winning streak – collecting trophies at both the cinch Championships and Rothesay International Eastbourne before reaching the semi-final at Wimbledon.
