Full draws

Boulter & Kartal set tough draws; Raducanu opens against Lamens

British No.1 Boulter will be hoping to get her tour-debut on clay off to a winning start against experienced Czech star Katerina Siniakova.

Awaiting her in the second round would be blockbuster clash with sixth seed and 2024 Roland Garros and Wimbledon runner-up Jasmine Paolini.

Boulter is in the same quarter of the draw as Kartal, who showed she has the game for the clay in the Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers. The young Briton will be aiming to build on that experience up against Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian in round one.

Kartal’s path through the opening rounds could see her take on 17th seed and last week’s WTA Rouen champion Elina Svitolina in the second round and 10th seed Elena Rybakina in the third.

Meanwhile, Raducanu will play Netherlands’ Suzan Lamens in her first match back since a quarter-final exit at the Miami Open.

The 22-year-old would play 24th seed Marta Kostyuk in the second round before a potential clash with ninth seed Paula Badosa. Raducanu is also in the same quarter of the draw as world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka and could face the top seed if she makes the quarter-final.

Francesca Jones is the last Briton remaining in women’s singles qualifying.

Draper eyes potential Djokovic clash; Norrie to face Spanish wild card

Fifth seed Draper will have a bye into the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open, where he looks set to open his campaign against the winner of Tallon Griekspoor against a qualifiers – still to be confirmed.

Griekspoor has already made a final on clay this season, finishing runner-up at the Grand Prix Hassan II and then also making the quarter-finals in Munich last week.

The Indian Wells champion is in a competitive quarter of the draw, with difficult matches the whole way through. In round three he could face 30th seed Matteo Berrettini and then one of either 11th seed Tommy Paul or 24th seed Karen Khachanov in the fourth.

Should he make it to the quarter-finals, Draper would most likely take on 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic.

Norrie has a tough challenge in the second half of the draw as the British No.2 looks set to face Czech star and 26th Jiri Lehecka if he can defeat 19-year-old wild card Martin Landaluce in the first round.

It doesn’t get any easier for the five-time ATP title winner, who would most likely play second seed and reigning Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz in round three.

British stars Jacob Fearnley and Billy Harris are in qualifying action over the next few days as they bid to make their respective debuts in Madrid.
