The LTA SERVES programme has been shortlisted in the Tessa Jowell Community Award category for the 2022 Sports Industry Awards.

LTA SERVES, a leading sport for development programme funded by Sport England, takes tennis and its benefits right into the heart of disadvantaged communities, targeting those aged 5-18 with a clear focus on individuals living in top 30% most deprived areas of the country. SERVES uses tennis to promote participation, inclusion, self-confidence, non-violence, gender equality and community cohesion.

The programme is designed to empower, equip and work in partnership with local community organisations (youth clubs, community centres and faith venues) and delivery partners to bring tennis to new people and new communities. SERVES Tennis activators, who facilitate sessions, are leaders, youth workers and volunteers (16+) and are trusted people already working with young people within the community.

Kiran Matharu, LTA Community Tennis Manager, said: Being shortlisted for this award is testament to the positive social impact that LTA SERVES is contributing to communities across the country.

"It is particularly special for us to be recognised in a category named after Tessa Jowell who was Trustee of the Tennis Foundation when we established the programme.

“I would like to thank our brilliant partners and community partners that we engage with to deliver the LTA SERVES programme."

Dylan Pugh, Sport Industry Group Managing Director, said, "I'm delighted to announce the shortlist for the Sport Industry Awards 2022. There has been some outstanding work on display across the industry and there were some incredibly difficult decisions made in arriving at this shortlist. We look forward to welcoming all shortlisted individuals and organisations to the awards on 12 May at Evolution London, for the biggest night of the sport industry calendar."

The winners of the awards will be announced at the Sport Industry Awards 2022 event at Evolution London on 12 May.
