LTA Safe to Play Annual Safeguarding Conference supports NSPCC Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week

• 1 MINUTE READ

Once again this year the LTA is supporting the NSPCC CPSU’s Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week. The theme this year is teams and clubs coming together to host a Team Huddle.

The NSPCC has provided a full toolkit for venues and organisers to arrange this huddle and suggested topics to discuss. You can find resources and further details here

In the spirit of bringing individuals together to share knowledge and experiences earlier in the week the LTA hosted The LTA Safe to Play Annual Safeguarding Conference 2024.

With over 600 sign-ups to the event it was the largest safeguarding event ever to take place in British tennis and was attended by tennis volunteers, coaches, officials and parents.

Attendees heard from a range of knowledgeable speakers with the most popular sessions proving to be Dion Raitt, a survivor of abuse in football talking about his experience.

There was also a Bystander Theory session led by the National Working Group, a case management session led by the LTA’s Case Management Team and Laura Harris speaking about how the new Sport England funded Sport Welfare Officers can support volunteers across tennis.

Across the conference there were 11 sessions covering a range of topics. These provided a wide range of experiences and information for anyone involved in or wanting to know more about safeguarding in tennis. All were recorded and can be watched online and will be available on our website soon at the link below.
