Bolton Arena take home two titles at the LTA National League Premier Finals

• 2 MINUTE READ

The LTA National League Premier Finals 2021 took place at the National Tennis Centre over the Weekend (17/18 July), with Bolton Arena taking home two titles.

There were 24 teams across six age group categories competing to be crowned age group National Champions with Bolton Arena securing the 12U Girls’ and 14U Boys’ competitions to round off a very successful weekend’s work for the team from the North West.

The Top four teams from across the country in 12U, 14U and 18U earned the right to compete to be crowned age group champions. The heatwave across London added an extra test for the players, with the mercury soaring past 30 degrees at the National Tennis Centre.

Dukes Meadows won the 12U Boys’ event with Cultiv8 Tennis successful in winning the 14U Girls’ event. Ilkley LT&SC and University of Bath were the winners of the Boys’ and Girls’ 18U competitions respectively.

Our players walk away with some great memories and are proud to have their winning banner put on the balcony back at Bolton Arena! We look forward to competing in the competition again next year.

Howard Green, Team Captain and Coach of the Bolton Arena team said:

“I would like to thank the LTA for arranging another great National League Finals weekend.

“It was an awesome experience picking up two titles with our young team of 12 and Under Girls playing a year young. It was also great for our 14 and Under Boys to come back and defend their title.

“One of the highlights of the weekend had to be the complementary ice-cream in the 31-degree heat!

“Our players walk away with some great memories and are proud to have their winning banner put on the balcony back at Bolton Arena! We look forward to competing in the competition again next year.”

Rory McCutcheon, Competition Manager at the LTA, added:

“It has been a very challenging league stage across the competition this year, however, it was fantastic to complete the Premier stage of the competition this weekend.

“We have had two days of highly competitive play and it was great to see all the teams coming together to battle it out in very hot conditions.

“Well done to all teams for making it through to the finals and big thanks must go to all venues, team captains, coaches and players for all their support of the competition. We now look forward to our Men’s and Women’s Finals which take place in September in Bournemouth.”
