Katie Boulter vs Marta Kostyuk: How to watch the San Diego Open final
• 2 MINUTE READ
Katie Boulter is through to her first WTA 500 final at the San Diego Open as the British No.1 goes in pursuit of her second tour-level title.
Boulter defeated third seed and world No.26 Emma Navarro in the semi-final 6-3, 6-1 to progress to the biggest final of her career so far.
In the final she will face sixth seed Marta Kostyuk, with the match taking place on Sunday 3 March at 23:00 UK time.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed an impressive week in San Diego, where she’s also defeated Lesia Tsurenko, Beatriz Haddad Maia and Donna Vekic – all ranking above the Briton.
“Today was one of those matches where everything just clicks," Boulter said. "I came on the court and started the first few games, and I could feel the power that she had and the way she works and manoeuvres the ball. I knew I had to come up with something better."
This final comes after a strong start to the season for Boulter, having claimed a career-best win over world No.5 Jessica Pegula at the United Cup and then also reaching the second round of the Australian Open and the WTA 500 event in Linz.
Boulter’s opponent Kostyuk was a quarter-finalist at this year’s Australian Open and reached Sunday’s final by defeating top seed Pegula 7-6(4), 6-1.
This will be the first time that Boulter and Kostyuk have faced each other.
