International players star at the FIP Rise HOP London Padel Open

International stars stole the show at the FIP Rise HOP London Padel Open at The Padel Hub over the weekend taking home the women’s and men’s titles.
This marked the second of three FIP (International Padel Federation) Rise padel events taking place in Great Britain this year – bringing together the top-level British talents with players from across the world to compete for prize money and ranking points on the Cupra FIP Tour.
Spain’s Eugenia Guimet Bigas and Argentina’s Maria Laura Ferreyra lifted the women’s trophy after a stellar week in which they defeated the fourth, third and second seeds en route to the title.
In the final, they held off a comeback from Spanish, Italian team Lucia Perez Parra and Marianela Montesi to win 7-5, 6-7, 6-2.
Meanwhile in the men’s final, French, Spanish pairing Manuel Vives and Eneko Arija Ochoa de Alda defeated top seeds Antonio Fernandez and Jose Jimenez Casas 7-6, 0-6, 6-3.
For the Brits, Lisa Phillips and Abigail Tordoff reached the quarter-finals, where they came close to beating top seeds Carla Fito Fernandez and Lorena Alonso de Lera in three sets 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. On the men’s side Louie Harris, Nikhil Mohindra, Sandy Farquharson, Jamie Eccleton, George Weller, Chris Salisbury, Alfonso Patacho, Ethan Bardo, Jake Bewley and Tom Farquharson made the second round.
Tournament Director John Leach said: “This year's HOP London Padel open was a fantastic event with high quality padel throughout, I want to congratulate GB’s Abi Tordoff and Lisa Philips who pushed the top seeds all the way in the quarter finals with a brilliant performance.
