22-year-old Jack Draper is set to compete in his second ATP final as he takes on world No.32 Jiri Lehecka for the Adelaide International title.
Draper reached the final on Friday after coming through a tough semi-final battle with Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik 7-6(2), 6-4 in an hour and 37 minutes.
He now moves on to face Lehecka in a final that will take place on Saturday 13 January at 5:30 UK time.
An impressive week for the young Brit saw him knock out fifth seed Sebastian Baez in the first round before avenging his Davis Cup Finals loss against Miomir Kecmanovic. Arguably his best result of the campaign came in the quarter-finals, where he knocked out top seed Tommy Paul 6-1, 6-4 in stunning fashion.
The young British star will be going in search of his first ATP Tour title having only reached his first final at the backend of last season at the Sofia Open.
22-year-old Lehecka will also be challenging for his first ATP trophy on Saturday having claimed scalps over the likes of Dusan Lajovic, Nicola Jarry and a semi-final victory over Sebastian Korda.
Lehecka made the quarter-finals of the Australian Open and the fourth round at Wimbledon in a stellar season that saw him rise into the top 30 for the first time in his career.
While Draper and Lehecka haven’t faced each other before at pro level, their last meeting came in the juniors back in 2018, where the Brit won 6-1, 6-3 at the Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup ITF Junior Tennis Championship.
Draper won’t be the only Brit competing in a final at Adelaide this weekend – four-time major champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram will contest for their first title of the season.
Salisbury and Ram will face second seeds Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden in the final at 3:30 on Saturday.
The British, American duo lead the head-to-head 2-0 – beating Bopanna and Ebden in the US Open final and the Nitto ATP Finals.
