British Tennis Round-up: Doubles delight in Acapulco and a new British No.1

Mexico
Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares were on brilliant form in Acapulco to successfully defend their Abierto Mexicano Telcel title. The pair didn’t drop a set throughout the entire tournament and defeated the Bryan brothers 7-6(4), 7-5 in the final.
The achievement marked a remarkable 20th tour-level title for Murray, as well as a 350th match win. Find out more about Murray’s time in Acapulco and enjoy a throwback to his 20 titles.
Heather Watson also celebrated doubles success by winning the women’s doubles with Germany’s Tatjana Maria. The pair battled past American duo Sabrina Santamaria and Kaitlyn Christian 7-5, 2-6, [10-2] to lift the trophy.
The win means Watson now has seven WTA titles to her name (three singles and four doubles).
Cam Norrie also made a main draw appearance after successfully qualifying in the singles. He faced Austrian third seed Dominic Thiem in the opening round but narrowly missed out on progressing after falling 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.
Brazil
Tara Moore made it a hat-trick of trophies for the Brits as she captured an ITF $25K title in Sao Paulo with Switzerland’s Conny Perrin. The pair overcame Chieh-Yu Hsu and Marcela Zacarias in a marathon championship tiebreak to win the title with a 6-4, 3-6, [13-11] victory.
