• 2 MINUTE READ

Great Britain’s Dan Evans has reached a new milestone after reaching 150 tour-level wins at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Evans beat Tunisia's Moez Echargui 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 on his Olympics debut for Team GB to record his 150 career-win since he broke out on the ATP Tour in 2012.

Amongst his 150 wins, the British No.3 has claimed two ATP titles - Melbourne back in 2021 and his biggest title to date at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington in 2023.

On top of that, he has also reached a further two finals in Sydney (2017) and the Delray Beach Open (2019).

The Brit calimed his first tour-level win representing his country at the Davis Cup back in February 2012 competing against Slovakia. Evans beat Lukas Lacko in straight sets before later defeating Martin Klizan 6-1, 6-1, 4-6, 3-6, 6-3 in the final rubber of the tie.

Evans maiden ATP victory came on home soil at the Queen’s Club back in 2013, when he knocked out Argentina’s Guido Pella 6-3, 6-1 in the first round. A wild card entrant ranked world No.569, the Brit enjoyed a run to the final 16.

Since then, the Birmingham native has achieved incredible heights in the Pepperstone ATP rankings – securing a career-high of world No.21 in August 2023.

Amongst the biggest achievements in his career, comes his triumphant victory over world No.1 and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic at the 2021 Monte Carlo Masters. Competing against one of the greatest tennis players of all-time, Evans battled past the Serbian 6-4, 7-5 to claim the biggest win of his career by ranking and eventually reached the semi-final of the tournament.

The hard courts have proven to be Evans’ most comfortable surface, with the 32-year-old clinching 114 wins on the surface, while he’s clinched 20 on the clay and 16 on grass.

His best run at a Grand Slam came at the 2017 Australian Open when he reached the fourth round. During his run, Evans took down the likes of Facundo Bagnis, Bernard Tomic, and 2014 US Open champion and then world No.7 Marin Cilic.

He also reached the fourth round of a major tournament at the 2021 US Open where he defeated Thiago Monteiro, Marcos Giron and Alexei Popyrin. Meanwhile, his Grand Slam success has seen him reach the third round of The Championships, Wimbledon on three occasions (2016, 2019, 2021) and the second round at Roland Garros in 2022.

Evans has undoubtedly been a strong and committed addition to the Lexus Great Britain Davis Cup team and boasts an impressive 16 wins across the singles and doubles.

Evans was the standout player at the Davis Cup Group Stages in 2023, guiding his country to Davis Cup Finals qualification. The Briton recorded victories over Arthur Fils and Alex de Minaur in the singles before securing GB’s spot in the Final 8 with a three-set victory over Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the deciding doubles match alongside Neal Skupski.
