Cam Norrie claims win No.200 on the ATP Tour

• 2 MINUTE READ

British No.1 Cam Norrie has reached 200 career victories on the ATP Tour this week at the Barcelona Open.

Norrie defeated former world No.9 Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 6-3 to tick off a significant milestone in his career so far.

He becomes the eighth British man in the Open Era to reach 200 victories.

Across his 200 wins, the British star has lifted five ATP titles at Los Cabos, Delray Beach, Lyon, Rio and the biggest trophy of his career in Indian Wells back in 2021.

He’s also reached a further nine finals, including the cinch Championships where he narrowly lost out to Matteo Berrettini.

  • Hard – 122
  • Clay – 58
  • Grass – 20

Norrie earned his first tour-level win as a wild card in Eastbourne back in 2017. The British star, who was then ranked at world No.236 beat Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos 6-4, 7-6(4) to make his breakthrough.

Since then, Norrie has only continued to climb through the ATP rankings – reaching a career high of world No.8 after 52 wins in 2021, and 49 in 2022.

Norrie's best title of his career so far came at Indian Wells, where in 2021 he became the first British player to lift the 'fifth Grand Slam' after defeating Nikoloz Basilashvili 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

He is only the fourth British man in the Open Era to break into the top 10.

Speaking of which, the Brit also boasts 10 career wins against players ranked inside the top 10. He has picked up wins over Carlos Alcaraz, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Dominic Thiem and John Isner whilst they’ve ranked in the top 10.

In 2023 he also claimed up a standout victory over one of his idols, Rafael Nadal, at the United Cup. Representing the Brits, Norrie beat the then world No.2 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

His best Grand Slam run to date came at Wimbledon in 2022, where he became only the fourth British man to reach the final four at The Championships in the Open Era.

Norrie beat Tommy Paul in straight sets in his first Grand Slam fourth round match, before winning a quarter-final classic against David Goffin 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 to make the semi-finals.

At the other majors, he’s reached the fourth round at the Australian Open (2024) and US Open (2022), as well as the third round at Roland Garros (2021, 2022, 2023). He currently has 32 Grand Slam victories to his name.

Cam Norrie 200 wins stats

  • 32 Grand Slam wins
  • 39 ATP Masters wins
  • 10 wins vs top 10 players
  • 66 matches won in the deciding set

Norrie has been a stalwart of the Lexus Great Britain Davis Cup team in recent years, where he’s won seven singles matches. In 2018 he had arguably one of the best Davis Cup debuts of all-time, coming from two sets down to beat Spain’s Bautista Agut 4-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.

In the years that followed, he was a standout performer in the 2021 Finals, where Great Britain reached the quarter-finals, as well as last year where he helped the Brits progress from Qualifiers to the Final 8 in Malaga.

With an impressive resume already in his career, at just 28, there’s still plenty to come from Norrie in the future and hopefully many more milestones to come…
