Five Brits will contest the Cajun Classic across the men’s, women’s and quad singles and doubles draws, with four-time champion Alfie Hewett out to defend his title after defeating world No.1 Tokito Oda 6-4, 6-4 in last years’ final in Baton Rouge.

Hewett won his first two titles in Baton Rouge in 2017 and 2018 before adding the 2022 and 2024 titles. He starts this year’s tournament as world No.2.

Hewett won the 2017 men’s doubles title in Baton Rouge partnering Dutchman Maikel Scheffers, but partners fellow Brit Gordon Reid again this year as the top seeds and 22-time Grand Slam champions aim to make it a hat-trick of Cajun Classic doubles titles.

A semi-finalist in 2023 and a quarter-finalist last year before bowing out in three close sets to world No.1 Oda, Reid is also a former singles champion, having won the 2014 Cajun Classic title before winning the 2016 doubles title with Sweden’s Stefan Olsson.

British No.1 Lucy Shuker and British No.2 Cornelia Oosthuizen both return to Baton Rouge to contest the women’s singles and doubles, with Shuker currently two tournament wins short of 90 career women’s doubles titles.

Shuker’s career-highlights in Baton Rouge date back to 2009 when she won the first of two back-to-back doubles titles partnering Dutchwoman Aniek van Koot. Shuker added a third Cajun Classic doubles title in 2015 and a fourth in 2018. In 2022 she was runner-up partnering no-retired American Dana Mathewson, with whom she also reached the semi-finals in 2023. Last year Oosthuizen and Shuker reached the semi-finals together before eventually bowing out to eventual champions and top seeds Yui Kamiji and Kgothatso Montjane.

Andy Lapthorne is Britain’s sole representative in the quad singles and doubles this year. British No.1 and world No.5 Lapthorne has won four quad doubles titles to date in Baton Rouge, lifting the title in 2015 and 2017 with fellow Brits Jamie Burdekin and Antony Cotterill, respectively, before partnering the USA’s David Wagner to also win again in 2022 and 2024. Lapthorne and Wagner were semi-finalists together in 2023.

A singles quarter-finalist last year before bowing out in three sets to Dutch second seed and eventual champion Sam Schroder, Lapthorne will set out to try and win his second Cajun Classic singles title after first being victorious in 2012.
