Cam Norrie finished his season as the runner-up at the Moselle Open in Metz after losing out to French qualifier Benjamin Bonzi in the final.
Despite his opportunities in the first set, Norrie missed out on the chance to claim his sixth ATP title in a 7-6(6), 6-4 defeat against the Frenchman.
Norrie’s run in Metz brings a positive end to an injury-struck second half of the season and the former British No.1 is set to rise back to world No.50 on Monday.
"It's been an amazing week and great to reach another final,” said the 29-year-old Brit. "Ben played better than me and stayed tougher than me. It’s well deserved."
In his first final of the season, Norrie looked to have the upper hand in the opening set, but only managed to covert on one of 13 break points.
Bonzi showed his grit and determination to not only overturn a break deficit but force the British No.2 to a tie-break, where he saved a set point to eventually steal the set for himself.
Norrie had an early break point to move two games ahead at the start of the set but was unable to capitalise.
Things went from bad to worse for the Brit as he soon found himself 3-1 down, before some solid serving from the world No.124 helped him see out his first tour-level title in an hour and 55 minutes.
Overall, it was a strong week for the former world No.8 with impressive wins over Roberto Carballés Baena, Luca Van Assche, Zizou Bergs and Constantin Moutet.
Four British doubles champions
There was British success in the men’s doubles however, as Luke Johnson and partner Sander Arens clinched the title.
The British, Dutch duo defeated home favourites Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Albano Olivetti in the final 6-4, 3-6, 10-3.
The Moselle Open is their first ATP title together, adding to their two previous Challenger trophies since teaming up in September.
Jamie Murray and John Peers were also ATP title winners in Belgrade this weekend.
Murray and Peers backed up their title in Basel just two weeks ago with a 3-6, 7-6(5), 11-9 comeback win over Ivan Dodig and Skander Mansouri in the final.
The former world No.1 has now won three titles on the season and his latest silverware is his 34th tour-level trophy across his career.
Over in the States, Emily Appleton and Maia Lumsden won their first title together at the WTA 125 Midland Challenger.
The all-British team beat Canadian partnership Ariana Arseneault and Mia Kupres in the final 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 to claim Appleton's first WTA 125 trophy and Lumsden's second of the season.
Johannus Monday also continued his winning form at the Knoxville Challenger where he won the doubles title and reached the singles semi-final.
Monday and partner Patrick Harper defeated Micah Braswell and Eliot Spizzirri 6-2, 6-2 to add a second Challenger title to his growing trophy list, having won the Rothesay Open Nottingham with Jacob Fearnley in 2023.
The 22-year-old also extended his unbeaten singles run to 18 before losing to former Wimbledon quarter-finalist Christopher Eubanks 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(1) in the semis.
