Alfie Hewett, Gordon Reid & Andy Lapthorne crowned champions at Cajun Classic

• 1 MINUTE READ

Alfie Hewett, Gordon Reid and Andy Lapthorne clinched three titles at the ITF Super Series Cajun Classic event last week in Baton Rouge.

Hewett was the standout performer of the week, completing the title double in Louisiana.

The world No.2 added to his singles titles in 2017, 2018 and 2022, by defeating top seed and current Roland Garros, Wimbledon and Australian Open champion Tokito Oda 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

Hewett cruised through the week without dropping a set before defeating Oda for the second time in two weeks.

So far this season, Hewett boasts an impressive 23-2 winning record in singles matches.

His singles victory came just a day after lifting the men’s doubles title alongside Reid, in another dominant week for the British duo.

Hewett and Reid sealed their second Super Series title of the year against second seeds Oda and Takuya Miki 6-2, 6-2.

The win marks Hewett’s 80th ITF doubles title across both junior and pro-level competitions.

In the quad doubles draw, Australian Open champions Lapthorne and David Wagner lifted their second title of the season.

Lapthorne and Wagner beat Israel’s Guy Sasson and Brazil’s Ymanitu Silva 6-2, 6-3 in Saturday’s final to become Super Series title-winners for the fourth time as a pair.

This is Lapthorne’s third doubles title of the year so far – his joint best doubles tally for a single season since 2017.
