Comedians Adam Hills and Joel Dommett take on Visually Impaired tennis with Ewan Hayward

Comedian, presenter, and tennis super-fan Adam Hills teams up with guests from the worlds of sport and comedy to showcase accessible formats of his favourite game in our latest video series.

The series will shine a light on wheelchair tennis, para standing tennis, visually impaired tennis and walking tennis – showing you how they work and how you can get involved.

In episode three, Adam teams up with comedian Joel Dommett to take on visually impaired (VI) tennis for the first time. With expert advice from VI player Ewan Hayward, Adam and Joel gain a new understanding of the different types of visual impairments that VI tennis caters to.

Things to remember about VI tennis

  • It's one of the leading sports for blind and partially sighted people in the UK
  • It's played in more than 30 countries in the world 
  • There are different categories depending on the degree of sight loss - with a higher number of bounces being given for those with more severe sight loss
  • Some classifications are allowed up to three bounces
  • It can be played by people of all ages, experiences, fitness levels and abilities who have a visual impairment
