LTA Master Tennis Coach
The Level 5 Master Tennis Coach qualification is the highest level of LTA coaching award run by the LTA Coach Development team and is for coaches who aspire to work at the very highest level of development coaching.
The course encompasses an even split between off court and on court sessions, delivered by the course tutors and a range of guest speakers, to inspire and improve your coaching and business knowledge.
On completion of the course, you will be able to:
- Deliver on court sessions of the highest quality to all venue members.
- Design, implement and evaluate the process and outcome of coaching programmes.
- Display leadership skills to create and manage change in dynamic environments.
- Mentor a team of coaches to deliver a quality coaching programme.
The Level 5 course is currently being redesigned and it is envisoned that 8 modules will be hosted across two years - each module is three days in length and there will be a gap of two months between each module to allow sufficient time to complete tasks. As part of the course, coaches will also undertake an international trip to experience and understand how different countries and tennis federations operate.
- Hold the LTA Senior Club Coach qualification, Senior Performance Coach qualification or equivalent
- Be an Accredited+ coach. We strongly recommend that you ensure your Accredited+ status remains active throughout the entirety of the course or that appropriate insurance cover is in place when undertaking supervised experienced hours that are a requirement of the course.
- Have or have had a rating of 5.1 or higher, hold a an old play test grade 3 or have completed the LTA Master Coach Readiness Test.
- Hold or have held a position as Head Coach.
All coaches will have to complete an application as part of applying to the course - meeting the prerequisites alone will not guarantee a place on the course.
The full cost of the next edition of the Master Tennis Coach course will be clearly communicated to coaches once it has been finalised.

The final decision made by the LTA Reasonable Adjustment & Special Consideration Requests panel will be made within 14 working days of submission and cannot be challenged.
Spaces on the Level 5 course are extremely limited and you will need to complete an application in order to be considered for the course. The application process will consist of:

Task 2: Personal Statement |
A 4-6 minute video outlining areas of current specialism; what you would like to get out of the course personally; what impact the course will have on your tennis community |
Task 3: Readiness Test |
If you do not meet the playing level criteria for the course you will be required to complete the Readiness Test |
Task 4: Evaluation of Coaching |
A 5-minute video reviewing a lesson which you could then send to the Coach helping them enhance the level of their coaching. |
