Wimbledon 2024: Andy Murray pulls out singles but still set for doubles with brother Jamie

Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has withdrawn from this year’s singles draw but still looks set to compete in the men’s doubles with his brother Jamie.
Murray had been hoping that he would be back fit and ready to compete in the Wimbledon men’s singles draw after he was forced to pull out during his second round match at the cinch Championships with a back injury.
A statement from Murray’s team said: "Unfortunately, despite working incredibly hard on his recovery since his operation just over a week ago, Andy has taken the very difficult decision not to play the singles this year.
"As you can imagine, he is extremely disappointed but has confirmed that he will be playing in the doubles with Jamie and looks forward to competing at Wimbledon for the last time."
The Murray brothers are wild card entrants into the men’s doubles draw this year and look set to compete together at SW19 for the first time in their careers.
While the pair haven’t played at Wimbledon yet, they do have a wealth of experience competing together, especially in the Davis Cup, where their doubles performances helped Great Britain to the title in 2015.
