Wimbledon and US Open finalist Ons Jabeur confirmed for Rothesay International Eastbourne 2023
• 3 MINUTE READ
Two-time Grand Slam finalist and former world No.2 Ons Jabeur will headline the line-up at this year’s Rothesay International Eastbourne.
The announcement comes as tickets for the Rothesay International Eastbourne, Rothesay Classic Birmingham and Rothesay Open Nottingham all go on priority sale to Fan+ and Compete members on Advantage.
“I am really looking forward to returning to the Rothesay International," said Jabeur. "I have great memories from playing at Eastbourne and also winning my first WTA title at Birmingham. The crowd is always so supportive at British grass-court tournaments and the LTA team always put on a great event for us all.”
Star of the Netflix documentary series – Break Point – Jabeur was one of the standout stars of the 2022 season and reached the finals at Wimbledon and the US Open, becoming the first Arab player (male or female) to compete in a major final.
In addition, last year saw the Tunisian lift titles at the WTA 1000 in Madrid, followed by the singles trophy at the German Open.
Her strong record on grass stretches back to 2021, when she became the first Arab woman to win a WTA Tour title at the Birmingham Classic – overcoming Daria Kastkina in the final. The current world No.4 also made the Birmingham doubles final in the same season alongside Ellen Perez.
Jabeur also has an impressive history at Devonshire Park, having reached the semi-finals back in 2019 and teaming up with none other than Serena Williams in the doubles draw last year.
Jabeur is just the first of many players set to compete at our events in Eastbourne, Birmingham and Nottingham this year – stay tuned for more announcements coming soon.
