Rothesay Classic Birmingham 2024: Sloane Stephens, Harriet Dart & Heather Watson receive wild cards

• 1 MINUTE READ

More stars have been added to the line-up at the Rothesay Classic Birmingham as Sloane Stephens, Harriet Dart and Heather Watson receive main draw wild cards.

The Rothesay Classic Birmingham gets underway with qualifying this weekend at the Edgbaston Priory Club before the main draw begins on Monday 17 June.

Stephens, Dart and Watson join former world No.1 and Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki as the wild card entries to this year’s event.

2017 US Open champion and former Roland Garros runner-up Stephens heads to Birmingham having won her eighth career title this season at the Open Capfinances Rouen Métropole in Rouen. The 31-year-old made the quarter-finals in Birmingham the last time she played back in 2014 but is also a former semi-finalist in Eastbourne as well.

Dart is set to play after narrowly losing out in a three-hour epic against reigning champion Katie Boulter in the first round of the Rothesay Open Nottingham. The Bit made her first WTA semi-final earlier this year and the Transylvania Open and last year reached the quarter-finals in Birmingham after beating Jodie Burrage and world No.26 Anhelina Kalinina.

Watson always brings her best for the grass court season where she has enjoyed many of her career-best results, including a fourth round at Wimbledon back in 2022 and semi-finals in Nottingham (2023), Birmingham (2021) and Eastbourne (2014 & 2017).
