Draws announced for wheelchair tennis events at the 2024 Paralympic Games

The draws for the wheelchair tennis events at the 2024 Paralympic Games at Roland Garros, Paris, have been announced as action gets underway from Friday 30 August.
In the men’s singles, Wimbledon champion and three-time Paralympic silver medallist Alfie Hewett is the top seed and has a bye in the first round, before match with either Sergei Lysov or Brayan Tapia.
2016 gold medal winner Gordon Reid is in the other half of the draw to Hewett and also has a bye in the opening round. He could play Suresh Dharmasena or Josef Riegler.
Meanwhile, Ben Bartram will play Guilhem Laget of France before a potential second round against world No.2 Tokito Oda. Dahnon Ward opens his account against Said Himam.

The women’s singles draw will see ParalympicsGB flagbearer Lucy Shuker face French star Charlotte Fairbank and could face a familiar face in Dana Matthewson in the second round.
Making her Paralympics debut, Abbie Breakwell will play Maylee Phelps in round one.
Three-time medallist Andy Lapthorne is set for a clash with Chile’s Diego Perez in the first round of the quad singles, while Greg Slade takes on Ugur Altinel of Turkey.
The men’s doubles draw sees 2016 and 2020 silver medallists Hewett and Reid begin their bid for a first gold medal against Chilean duo Tapia and Alexander Cataldo.
Debutants Bartram and Ward will play Himam and Lhaj Boukartacha in round one to set up a potential clash with third seeds Tom Egberink and Maikel Scheffers of Netherlands.
British team Shuker and Breakwell have been drawn against Dutch partnership Lizzy De Greef and Jinte Bos in the women’s doubles, with the winner progressing to take on second seeds Yui Kamiji and Manami Tanaka in the quarter-finals.
Second seeds Lapthorne and Slade have a bye in the quarter-finals. Their semi-final will be against either Brazilians Leandro Pena and Ymanitu Silva or Turkish pairing Altinel and Ahmet Kaplan.
