The Lexus Surbiton Trophy was a part of the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF Women’s circuit, with the event previously being the first stop on the British grass court swing. Originally titled the Surrey Grass Court Championships during its inauguration in 1890, the tournament was held at the Surbiton Lawn Tennis Club in Surrey from 1904 until 2024.

The Lexus Surbiton Trophy came to an end following the 2024 event. A new grass court calendar was unveiled in 2025 with the intention of improving the experience for fans and players and offering more fans the opportunity to watch professional tennis.

During its long history, the tournament attracted some of the top players from all eras and areas across the world. Amongst the names featured in the Lexus Surbiton Trophy roll of honour are some of tennis’ most reputable names including Sue Barker, Ann Jones, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Andy Murray, while the tournament has also crowned several rising stars over its tenure.

Notably, eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer contested his first professional grass-court match at the Lexus Surbiton Trophy back in 1999 where he reached the semi-finals - kick-starting what was to be one of the greatest grass court legacies in the sport.
