World No.11 and last year’s champion in Eastbourne, Daria Kastakina has become the second women’s tennis star to add her name to the entry list for the HSBC Championships.

It follows the announcement earlier this week that former world No.1 and four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka will be heading to The Queen’s Club as well this summer.

I love playing on the grass, I think it’s one of my best surfaces, and I know I can achieve big things over the summer. I can’t wait to get started.
"The HSBC Championships has always been one of the biggest grass court events in the tennis calendar so to have the chance to compete there this year is really exciting," Kasatkina said.
"It’s the first women’s event there in over 50 years so I know all the players will raise their game to another level to try and win the title. I love playing on the grass, I think it’s one of my best surfaces, and I know I can achieve big things over the summer. I can’t wait to get started."
Kasatkina is no stranger to grass court successes after the former world No.8 took home the title in Eastbourne last summer – defeating Emma Raducanu, Jasmine Paolini and Leylah Fernandez en route to the title.
In previous years she’s also made other finals in Eastbourne and Birmingham so she knows how to bring her best to the British grass court season.
The 27-year-old is one of the top players on the WTA Tour coming off the back of one of the best seasons of her career, where she clinched her seventh and eighth tour-level titles (Eastbourne and Ningbo).
Last year she won 26 matches at WTA 500 level – the most of any player on the tour by 11.
She’s also starred at Grand Slams over recent seasons, with her best result coming with a semi-final run at Roland Garros in 2022. She’s also a former quarter-finalist at Wimbledon and has made the fourth round at the Australian Open and US Open.
A career-best round of 16 finish in Melbourne followed after she made the quarter-finals at the Adelaide International so far this year.
Tenascious from the baseline, with a dangerous forehand – Kasatkina will be one of the players to watch this summer and you can catch her in person at the HSBC Championships.
