Billy Harris to make Davis Cup debut & become LTA Colour Holder No.326

Billy Harris is set to become LTA Colour Holder No.326 as he makes his Davis Cup debut for the Lexus GB team against Finland in the Finals Group Stage in Manchester.
Harris will take on Otto Virtanen in the second singles rubber, after Dan Evans faces Eero Vasa. The tie will finish with a doubles match between Evans and Neal Skupski up against Harri Heliovaara and Patrik Niklas-Salminen.
In making his Davis Cup debut, Harris joins a list of Great Britain’s best tennis stars of all-time as the latest LTA Colour Holder.
LTA Colour Holders acknowledges, recognises and celebrates players, past and present, who have represented Great Britain in the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup and Wheelchair Tennis World Team Cup, as well as at the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
Like a ‘cap’ that a player receives playing for their country in either football or rugby, when a player has competed for Great Britain in tennis, they receive a Colour.
“I’m very proud to get the call up and I can’t wait to represent Great Britain,” Harris said during his pre-event media.
“It’s a great honour to play for your country and it gives me great pride.”
Harris’s call-up to the squad and the starting team against Finland comes after an impressive 12 months on the tour.
The 29-year-old was one of the star performers during the grass court season this year, making semi-finals at the Lexus Surbiton Trophy, Rothesay Open Nottingham and Rothesay International Eastbourne, as well as the quarter-final of the cinch Championships.
Having reached the final round of qualifying at his first US Open only a few weeks ago, he is currently up at a new career-high ranking at world No.101 as he looks to break into the top 100 for the first time.
