When is Great Britain vs Canada?                                 

Great Britain will play Canada in their final match of the Davis Cup Finals Group Stages on Sunday 15 September at the AO Arena in Manchester.

The tie will get underway at 13:00.

Great Britain vs Canada head-to-head

Great Britain holds a 2-0 lead in the head-to-head against Canada – having won their previous ties in 2017 and 1967.

In their most recent meeting in 2017, the Brits edged out 3-2 winners in Ottawa with victories for Dan Evans, Kyle Edmund and doubles duo Jamie Murray and Dom Inglot.

The win came 50 years on from their only previous tie where Roger Taylor, Bobby Wilson and Mike Sangster brought home a 4-1 win.

Great Britain will be hoping to bounce back after a defeat to Argentina on Friday. The Lexus GB Davis Cup team will need to beat Canada if they are to stand a chance of reaching the Final 8 in Malaga.

British No.1 Jack Draper came to Manchester off the back of his first Grand Slam semi-final at the US Open last week but lost his opening rubber against Francisco Cerundolo in two close sets. The 22-year-old will be eager to get his first win on the board for GB this year in what could be a rematch of the Cincinnati Open third round this season against Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Dan Evans has one win and one loss to his name in singles this week and has played more than any other British player.

Captain Leon Smith could be tempted to call on Billy Harris, who won on his Davis Cup debut against Finland on Wednesday. Harris made three semi-finals and one quarter-final during an incredible grass court season – including the Rothesay International Eastbourne and cinch Championships.

Evans and Neal Skupski are becoming the go-to Davis Cup doubles pairing for Great Britain at the moment and have one win and one loss on the record this week. The other option on the bench is Wimbledon champion Henry Patten, who would be looking to make his first appearance at the Davis Cup.

Canada have been in electrifying form in Manchester – only dropping one rubber across their matches against Argentina and Finland.

World No.21 Auger-Aliassime comes in as Canada’s top-ranked player and has won both his previous singles matches without dropping a set. A runner-up at the Madrid Open ATP Masters 1000 earlier in the year, it’s been a mixed season for the 24-year-old, but he’s come into form over the last few months and made the bronze medal math at the Olympics in Paris.

He’s a five-time ATP title winner and led his nation to their first Davis Cup title in 2022.

Denis Shapovalov has played both singles and doubles in all of Canada’s matches so far. The former Wimbledon semi-finalist has been working his way back from a long-term injury this season, with his best results coming at Washington (quarter-final), Roland Garros (third round) and The Championships (third round).

Shapovalov was joined by former singles world No.25 and doubles No.4 Vasek Pospisil in the doubles against Argentina and could make another appearance against the Brits. He 34-year-old is a former Wimbledon doubles champion but has only played in four events this season.

Gabriel Diallo is yet to feature but the 22-year-old boasts a big serve and has good form heading to Manchester, having come through qualifying to reach the third round at the US Open.

Qualification scenarios

To guarantee a spot in November's Finals, Great Britain will need to take a clean sweep over Canada. Any other result will see the Brits fate be left in the hands of the outcome of Argentina vs Finland, which takes place on Saturday 14 September.
