Great Britain vs Germany head-to-head

Great Britain holds a 5-2 lead in the head-to-head against Germany, with their first meeting being played back in 1969.

Prior to last year's Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga the two nations hadn't met in 39 years - but the Brits bounced straight back to winning ways as they secured a 2-0 win to reach the quarter-finals, thanks to wins from Boulter and Raducanu.

Preview

After their run to the semi-finals in Malaga last year, the Lexus GB team will be hoping to qualify for the second successive year as they prepare to face Germany in the first of two ties in Group F.

British No.1 Boulter comes in as the highest ranked player and will be gunning to lead her country to yet another Finals.

The 28-year-old has had a tricky start to the season so far, having been hit by injury after a solid campaign Down Under at the United Cup and Australian Open. However, Boulter is quickly getting back to her best and with the Brit having consistently performend for her country over the years, there's no better way to reignite her form than in a Billie Jean King Cup tie.

Boulter has been a mainstay in Anne Keothavong's team over the years and boasts a confident 14-5 win record when competing for her nation, including three wins at last year's Qualifiers and the team's semi-final run in Malaga.

Joining her is Sonay Kartal, who has received just her second call-up following a breakthrough 12 months.

The 23-year-old broke onto the scene at Wimbledon last year where she came through qualifying to reach the third round. From there, she was spurred on to an impeccable run of form that saw her claim back-to-back ITF titles in Roehampton before claiming her maiden WTA title at the Jasmin Open.

The British No.3 will enter the tie in fiery form and with confidence in her game after reaching the fourth round at Indian Wells, where she eventually lost out to world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka.

From one in-form player to another, Olivia Nicholls will be a reliable weapon should the Brits tie against Germany head to a deciding doubles rubber. Nicholls - who is the British doubles No.1 - arrives having made her first WTA 1000 final in Indian Wells alongside Slovakia's Tereza Mihalikova to achieve a new career-high of No.31.

Meanwhile, Harriet Dart and Jodie Burrage complete the British line-up and could be set to feature against Germany.

On the German side, Laura Siegemund and Tatjana Maria will be hoping their experience of competiting on the Billie Jean King Cup stage will carry them through a tough tie against the Brits.

Maria has been a stalwart in the German squad over the years, having competed in 15 ties so far. The 37-year-old knows exactly what is needed to win at the Billie Jean King Cup after racking up an impressive 13-8 win record.

They'll be joined by Jule Niemeier, who suffered a defeat in her opening match against Dutchwoman Eva Vedder, and rising star Eva Lys.
