These two teams have faced each other only once, in an infamous clash at the Copper Box in London back in 2019.

Contesting in the then Fed Cup World Group II play-offs, Great Britain secured a historic 3-1 win over the Kazakhstan side in front of a packed-out home crowd. The win booked Britain’s place in the top group of the competition for the first time since 1993.

Each rubber in the tie went to three sets as a double victory for Johanna Konta and a comeback win for Katie Boulter against Zarina Diyas meant there was no need for a deciding doubles match.

Great Britain head to Glasgow with a strong, experienced side, ready to take on the world.

Top ranked player Harriet Dart has enjoyed a breakthrough season in breaking into the top 100, while Katie Boulter and Heather Watson both enjoyed brilliant runs at Wimbledon this summer and have come into form at ITF events on home soil this month.

Doubles duo Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls have had the season of their lives this year, reaching the world’s top 65 in doubles and winning their first WTA title.

Kazakhstan come into the Finals riding the highs of their 3-1 victory over Germany in the qualifying rounds earlier this year, and for good reason.

Top ranked player Elena Rybakina won her first Grand Slam this year, bringing home the women’s singles title at Wimbledon back in July. Rybakina has continued to gain strong results since, with a quarter-final at the Western & Southern Open, a semi-final in Ostrava and finishing runner-up in Portoroz.

Anna Danilina is a player to watch out for on the doubles side, having won seven titles in total this year – including two WTA crowns in Sydney and in Warsaw – and finishing runner-up at the Australian Open with Brazlian, Beatriz Haddad Maia.
