With the US hard court swing in full force, it’s time for you to have your say and crown the stand-out British tennis stars from August.
The Brits headed Stateside as the ATP, WTA and ITF tours began preparations for the final Grand Slam of the year. A month full of title success will certainly make this a tough decision – but now, it’s over to you to vote for the players who have impressed you the most in August.
How does it work?
Every month, three players will be nominated for each of the following categories:
- Men’s singles
- Women’s singles
- Doubles
- Wheelchair

The nominees
Men’s singles
- Lifted the biggest title of his career at the ATP 500 event in Washington D.C.
- Defeated world No.10 Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov en route to the final
- Achieved a career high ranking of world No.21
- Won his first ATP Challenger title at the Winnipeg National Bank Challenger
- Reached the quarter-finals of the Cary 1 Challenger event
- Won six of the seven matches he played during August
- Was crowned the M.A.R.A Open Challenger champion
- Reached a career-high ranking of world No.126
Women’s
- Came through two rounds of qualifying at the National Bank Open where she reached the second round
- Climbed 16 places in the rankings to reach a career-high of world No.60
- Gained automatic acceptance to the US Open main draw for the first time in her career
- Reached the women’s singles quarter-finals at the Golden Gate Open at Stanford
- Gained automatic acceptance to the US Open main draw for the first time in her career
- Won the W25 Foxhills title, having only dropped one set all week
- Reached the semi-final of the W25 Aldershot event
- Climbed 120 places in the rankings to find the month ranked world No.349
Doubles
- Runner-up at the ATP Maters 1000 Western & Southern Open with Michael Venus
- Murray and Venus also made the quarter-finals at the Citi Open in Washington
- Reached his highest ranking since August 2022 – at world No.24
- Runner-up at the ATP Masters 1000 National Bank Open with Rajeev Ram
- Won her first WTA 125 title at the Golden Gate Open with Olivia Godecki
- Reached a new doubles career-high at world No.291
Wheelchair
- Runner-up at the Lexus British Open women’s doubles with Dana Matthewson
- Euro Para Games silver medallist in the women’s doubles with Cornelia Oosthuzien
- Euro Para Games bronze medallist in the women’s singles
- Champion in the Lexus British Open singles with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Joachim Gerard
- Champion in the Lexus British Open doubles with Gordon Reid
- Unbeaten in August
Andrew Penney
- Won four titles in August
- Singles and doubles champion at the Nottingham Futures
- Singles and doubles champion at the Wheelchair Czech Open
- Career high singles and doubles rankings – 47 (singles) and 60 (doubles)
