Women's singles: Sonay Kartal

Off the back of her incredible run to the third round at Wimbledon, Kartal backed it up with a smooth transition onto the hard courts in August.

Kartal opened the month with back-to-back titles at the Lexus GB Pro Series events in Roehampton – going on a 10-match unbeaten run in W35 tournaments.

Incredibly, the 22-year-old didn’t drop a single set in either competition – including final wins over Nastasja Schunk and Haruka Kaji.

The young Brit then headed to New York, where she reached the final round of qualifying at the US Open. She beat Guiomar Maristany Zuleta de Reales and Simona Waltert, before losing to Yuliia Starodubtseva 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

She’s gone on to reach a new career-high at world No.151.

Men's singles: Jack Draper

Before his incredible run at the US Open, Draper had been making an impression on the tour throughout August.

He represented Team GB for the first time at the Olympic Games in Paris, beating former world No.4 Kei Nishikori before losing out to Taylor Fritz in three sets.

Moving onto the hard courts, Draper reached his first career ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final at the Cincinnati Open. The British No.1 knocked out world No.11 Stefanos Tsitsipas and former world No.6 Felix Auger-Aliassime but bowed out to Holger Rune in the last eight.

Doubles: Andy Murray & Dan Evans

What more is there to say about this Olympics doubles duo. Coming into the Games, Murray had already announced that he would be retiring from professional tennis after making one final appearance in the Olympics doubles draw.

In the opening round, Murray and Evans saved five match points in a deciding match tie-break to edge a seemingly impossible 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 11-9 victory over Japan’s Taro Daniel and Nishokori.

It was more of the same in the second round as the Brits once again came through an epic against Belgium’s Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen to win 6-3, 6-7(8), 11-9.

However, the dream run eventually came to an end in the quarter-finals to Americans Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, but British fans left Paris having been treated to the full Murray experience for one last time.

Wheelchair: Emily Donnan

August was a month to remember for Donnan after she won her first career ITF titles in Bucharest.

Having made the singles quarter-finals the week before, Donnan went on to claim the double at the Kaufland Bucharest 2 Wheelchair Tennis Open.

She won the singles title with a comfortable 6-3, 6-0 win over Ju-Youn Park before teaming up with Park to dominate in the doubles draw and seal both trophies.
