What is and isn’t OK?
Safeguarding is about making sure people are safe and happy. Below are some examples of things to report if you see them happening:
- Coaches giving lifts to children on an individual basis
- A child or adult at risk being harassed due to their race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or any other protected characteristic
- Parents/adults being verbally abusive/threatening towards children
- Coaches messaging children via social media, text or Whatsapp
- An adult volunteer/coach flirting with a child under the age of 18
- Inappropriate messaging by adults to children
- Inappropriate messaging between children
This list is not exhaustive, if you are concerned about anything please report it.
What do I do if I have a concern?
If you have a safeguarding concern you can contact your venue Welfare Officer or report it to us (anonymously if you wish). Find out more about what to do if you have a concern here:
Venue Safeguarding Standards
At the LTA, we have things in place including policies and processes to help make sure children and adults at risk are supported and protected where needed.
All LTA registered venues must meet five safeguarding standards to support this. Find out more about what should be in place at your venue here:
